Sunday, February 01, 2009

Wow! February already. On Tuesday it will be three weeks already since I have arrived. Where does the time go?
One of my favorite places in Sayulita is El Beacho (see photo) Why? They have the best: hamburguesa con el queso con jalepenos con lechuga, con cebollas con tomates con salsa
And all for 25 pesos or about $1.90. That’s a bargain. And this isn’t a 99 cent McDonalds burger, it’s huge.
It’s Sunday and the day, like many others is lazy. Note I blame the day and not the writer. (Lol) Sure it’s Superbowl Sunday, but that doesn’t start until later this afternoon.
This morning, I was able to log into St. Peter’s Modesto web cam and watch this morning’s service. Just like the daily food a body needs, a person needs spiritual food on a regular basis. (whether you believe that or not, you do)
Last night was my turn to cook and the menu, in Spanish, was:
Camarón linguine con salsa de alfredo, pan de ajo, y una botella de vino blanco or to those that only took Latin in high school, shrimp linguine with alfredo sauce, garlic bread and a bottle of white wine.
Reading is another pastime that occupies a portion of my Mexican stay. I have always read a lot, but if you don’t count Scientific American, Jane’s Military, Action Advertiser, or Meditations, then I haven’t. (lol) I am proud to say that I have already finished two books and have started a third. The first is called “Lone Survivor” by Marcus Luttrell and is about the life of Navy Seals and how one particular Afghanistan mission went badly
The second book is called “At First Sight” by Nicholas Sparks and was very good. It’s a love story and one that I would never have imagined picking up let alone reading it from cover to cover in 4 days. Kleenex is advised for this one. When I had finished it and was reading the author’s notes, I realized that he was the writer of a book called The Notebook. Now that was a good movie.
The third is called “Broken Prey” by John Sandford and besides taking place in Minnesota, and involving a detective by the name of Lucas Davenport, I know little about it.
The fourth is…..not sure yet. Pete & Sharon are reading a few books that sound fascinating.
So besides food & drink & books & sunsets…..what else is there to do in Mexico? Stay tuned to future entries in my blog. Enjoy.
