Viernes, Febrero Veinti, seis Mil Diez
Buenos Diaz! It’s been 4 full weeks of Mexico and by looking at my tan, you might think albinoism runs in the family gene. The white parts are still about the same color as the other parts. (don’t dwell on that one, ok?)
Coffee going, maid coming, laundry day, and Pedro, mi hermano, is heading down to catch the USA vs. Finland hockey game at 2pm. Winner plays for the gold on Sunday, so this should be pretty exciting. I think YoYo’s will be the place, but I have two others scoped out, just in case.
I might wander through Terralta I, II and III this morning. Often times owners or property managers post a ‘La Renta” sign on their places, and I want to gather some more info for next year.
After wandering through several other neighborhoods, while jotting down phone numbers and address, I headed towards YoYo’s to ensure that I got some good seats for the hockey game.. Arriving at 11:15am, I was in luck….they weren’t open quite yet, even though Lindsey let me in….perfect time to catch up on electronic ideas. About an hour later, mi hermano, Pedro, tapped me on the shoulder…let the fun begin.
What a slaughter….USA 6, Finland 0 after the first period. The cervezas and pizza tasted good, and before the game ended, it was time for a hike and siesta.
Ring…ring….the cell phone was talking….NO WAY! No fricken way! On the other end, it was my buddy Phil….he had arrived at the Puerto Vallarta airport and had been waiting for over an hour….NO Way! I exclaimed! The short story is that I had branded his arrival date as Sunday onto my tiny little brain! Phil had arrived two days early and was in a strange country, city, airport….thanks John! (we’re laughing about it now, but I doubt if laughter was on his mind) “Ok, get in a taxi and tell them to drive you to Bucerias.” Where? “Have them take you to The Shamrock.” Where? Pedro and I headed to town and a few minutes later, Phil was calling again telling me that the taxi driver couldn’t find The Shamrock. “Just have them drop you off in the plaza.” And that’s where I found Phil, probably not overjoyed to see me. Lol
“Good thing you had my address and local cell phone number!” It turns out that Phil had not brought my cell phone number, but fortunately had packed his CA cell phone. He cleverly called home, and had a friend open and search his email for the info I had sent him. Then because of new age electronics, he was able to call me….several times. Before the sun set, we were enjoying a cold cerveza at The Shamrock with yet another story…..John messed up! Might this event go un-noted and be quickly forgotten? NOT! And I must live with it for a decade or three…..lol. My luck with the Puerto Vallarta airport is not so good. So come and visit me!
After the sunset and some delicious street tacos, it was time to hike back on the wonderfully paved streets of Bucerias. Cobblestones, eh? Just a little further Phil! We can make it!
The day ended just fine. Phil flew into Mexico, and got to Bucerias….perhaps not as planned but…..One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor! It was time for…..

Hola Juan, I was just in Bucerias for a month, now I'm back in Chicago (boo). I'll pretend to still be there by reading your blog. And I'm making my return plans -- love it there! ~Enjoy~
